Ever hear a Panther scream?! I have!! And believe me, you will never forget it!! It is terrifying!!! It sounds like a woman screaming for her life!
It was back in the early 50’s when it happened. Needless to say things were much different back then. We didn’t drive everywhere we wanted to go and walking a mile or so to visit the neighbors was an ordinary thing. That was were my mother and I had been that night.
We were on our way home, we had stayed a little longer than we should have and it had already gotten dark. The gravel road we were waking down had big trees on both sides and even if the moon had been shining it would have still been dark. But as I remember, there was no moon that night.
We were a little better than ¼ of a mile from the house when all a sudden I heard this blood curdling scream! I literally froze in my tracks and couldn’t move. Mom yells, “PANTHER”! Grabs me by the hand as she takes off. Running almost causes me to fall flat on my face and then, I start to run!
Life is to be shared with those around us. There are little treasures along the way everywhere you look. And even in what we consider to be bad, there is always some good somewhere, if we will but look for it.
One of the good things is this web site that our son Don has set up. It gives us an opportunity to share our lives with each other. In the coming weeks ahead, I would like to share some of my life with you. And it is my prayer that you will take the time to do the same. Take the time to share your life--with us! - Grandpa Chilson
