Amie Starts School

I don’t know who was more excited with the 1st day of school approaching – Amie or Grandma! Even though attending Pre-K at Country Estates Elementary meant Grandma would have to go all week without seeing Amie and Jerdon, it had her singing the A-B-C’s and counting the goldfish swimming in their alphabet soup! After spending the week with Daddy at “Luther Farm”, Amie and Jerdon went home with Mommy so she could get ready for her very 1st day of school on August 14th, 2007.

When Grandpa and Grandma picked her and Jerdon up on Friday Amie had a handful of take home school papers and her only complaint about school was that she didn’t get to ride the Big Yellow School Bus (her Mommy only lives a couple of blocks from the school so she walks her there and back each day!)

Grandparents Day was September 7th. Grandpa and I met Amie at her house and walked with her to school that morning at 8:30. She was so excited about getting to introduce us to her teachers, Miss Nicki and Miss Joyce. She explained very pointedly that she would show us were to go! We only need to be very quite when we went in, hold her hand and let her lead the way!

Once inside her classroom she showed us around, introduced her teachers and then joined her classmates to present a short program. After the program was over the Grandparents were asked to do 3 things with their Grandchild before taking them home. First we used paint make Amie’s handprints on a plate for us. Then after reading a story to her from a book of her choice (The Emperor and the Nightingale) we all ate yummie cookies and drank lemon aide together. After saying goodbye to her teachers and her classmates Amie walked us back to her house were we picked up Jerdon and all headed back to “Luther Farm” for the weekend. - Grandma Chilson
